Charity Promotion

Because a charitable organization’s main purpose is to use money to improve life for many people, their are often charity events created to bring increased awareness and new donations to the organization. However, it goes against the mission of the organization to spend large amounts of money advertising, so the members of the group will need to find alternate ways to promote the event. In fact, there are many resources out there that exist to promote charity events and keep the expenses minimal to the organization. Using these resources will result in an event with many visitors and more awareness about the group.

Most radio and television stations will offer free advertising spots for charity events. These are called public service announcements and are an easy way to spread the message about an upcoming function. By contacting a wide variety of radio stations, a charitable group can reach a large number of people with no expensive advertising budget. In addition, many churches and other organizations will allow the charity groups to place flyers on bulletin boards for members to see. In this manner, the charity will be able to reach new audiences and increase the word of mouth advertising for the event.

For those charity events that are seeking to have very large attendance numbers, the best way to do adequate promotion is to get a corporate sponsor. Many area and national businesses will be more than willing to help, both with monetary donations and also by supplying products and materials free of charge to the charity. The sponsors believe that their association with a charitable group will bring new customers and the groups will benefit by being able to fund the event without needing to spend money from their own coffers. This situation makes benefits for both parties and is a common way of promoting charity events.
