Charity Projects
There are many different types of charity projects to be found around the world. Some feature disaster relief efforts that happen when there is a natural disaster that leaves many people without homes or the basic necessities of life. Other charity projects come a little closer to home, with members of the community working together to provide aid in the form of money or support for those that are less fortunate in the immediate geographic region. A person looking for a way to help will find that there are countless opportunities to become involved with a charity project. One of the most famous charity projects from the United States that focuses on international needs is with the Peace Corps organization. Every year, this group sends large numbers of volunteers to work in disadvantaged areas by assisting with community building and even with learning projects, such as teaching English to prepare international children for a better future in the workplace. Volunteers for the Peace Corps typically serve for a period of over two years to establish a level of trust with the community that they are serving. In this manner, the residents of the area are able to bond with the volunteers and incorporate them into the daily life of the area.
On a more local scale, there are international organizations, such as UNICEF, that raise funds to be used to help disadvantaged people in a local community. There is a local office that will pool all the funds that have been collected them and then decide how the money should be used to deliver the best benefits. The UNICEF charity projects are often responsible for funding food banks as well as shelters for those that are without homes. UNICEF often works closely with other organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross.
